My friend had so much praise for Cheka restaurant that I just had to try it out. I went there with my bestfriend and I must say,our experience at Cheka was amazing especially it being our first time to have Japanese Cuisine. Being a fan of seafood,I ordered for prawns n they were just so succulent and perfectly done. The service was also incredible and the blend of wooden textures made the environment so serene. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
My friend made me visit the restaurant because he had seen a Japanese chef.Well, It was not a disappointment. The place has a serene environment especially if you’re visiting during lunchtime the interiors are really cool. I have tried a lot of Japanese cuisines but I liked their pork ginger and fried squid. Nice place for late lunch and dinner with family
Service, service, service. it was really poor to be honest. We were received well and that is as far as it got. They took too long to come take our orders, and when they finally did, they brought the orders piece meal after long intervals until we complained we want all our orders brought together so that we eat together.
Here is the worst part, after we finished eating, it took 30-40 minutes without our table being cleared, we had to request for it to be cleared. terrible if you ask me.
As for the food, the deep fried octopus was actually quite nice. The ginger pork was lean which is a good thing but nothing to write home about really. Oh, and i enjoyed the salmon rice.
work on your service
Second time at Cheka and I enjoyed myself. The #NRW2017 dinner menu is great with a lot of options. The service could have been faster. That said, they were friendly and welcoming. I had the sashimi platter for a starter. And just like last time I loved it but wished there was more of it. Especially the Tuna. The soy noodles with braised pork was yum and the portion generous. The green tea ice cream I could take or leave. I'll definitely be going back.
I have been to Izakaya several times. I love the service and the ambience. There is a garden behind the restaurant where you can wander for a while. The fact that they bring you maasai shukas in the evening if it is cold and the charcoal Niko is not working for you, quite warmed my heart. (See what I did there?
Went to celebrate a friends birthday and had an awful experience. They ran out of house wine we had been drinking and when the hostess Millicent came to inform us of this she was very rude basically told us "if you don't buy a bottle then you cant drink wine", kept interrupting when we were talking to her, sighing, rolling her eyes and at some point she just walked off. We asked to speak to the owner and 2 hours later she never bothered to come by and check on what the problem was which I found appalling. However when we were leaving the owner waved and said goodbye. Their only saving grace is our waiter Naftalie who really went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of. I am a hotelier for over 20 years and have gone to many restaurants and this is the worst treatment I have received, I would never go back.
