Vista @ Hotel Emerald7th Floor, Krishna Center, Woodvale Grove, Westlands, Nairobi
Went here on a weekday evening - the restaurant was nearly empty with just one other table occupied. The lighting is super dim and makes it seem like a scene straight out of a murder mystery. The food is pretty decent though - I had their Hyderabadi Dum Biryani and it was tasty and full of flavours. I would like to come back for the food, but the lighting definitely needs improvement.
Had read the reviews before picking this place but forgot to make a reservation for a birthday dinner for 4 pax. Turns out we didn't need one as there was only one other dinner party at the restaurant. The lighting is horrible we had to sit in the middle of the restaurant so we could read the menus and missed out on the views everyone talked about (which are not all that at night). The waiter was extremely honest and told us it would take 25 min for our food including the starters to come out. Took just a bit longer but when we got it it was worth the wait. For starters we had the mint chicken rolls and mixed vegetable platter and for mains had the butter chicken, palak paneer, mutton roganjosh and chicken shahi korma. The portion sizes are decent so got loads of takeaway. We were too stuffed for dessert. I wouldn't go back for dinner as didn't care for the lighting (its actually quite dark) and decor, but would stop by for lunch(to check out this supposed amazing views) and definitely order for delivery.
For Indian or Chinese cuisine in Nairobi, this is probably the place to go! It was quiet and uncrowded. The service was prompt. Take someone special for lunch or dinner. You won't regret it. One suggestion. As one reviewer has noted, they should think about putting on some music instead of BBC news!
I've only tried their delivery but the food is fantastic and the vast menu has something for everyone's taste. Oh, they probably have the best chapatis in town - love it!
i enjoyed the meat platter .. i will definitely go back again
