Thai Chi (Sarova Stanley)The Sarova Stanley, Kimathi St, CBD, Nairobi
I was repeatedly informed that I needed a reservation to dine there, even on the day as I made my way to the restaurant, I was asked about my reservation... only to get to the restaurant and there was just 2 of my party and no one else for a greater part of the evening. The food is awesome, but would I go back there? Not soon.
Meals are consistently glorious. Service top notch. Always a pleasant experience.
Perhaps we went on the wrong day, because the food was not something one would expect from a Thai chef - surprisingly inauthentic with ingredients that bafflingly did not belong in a Thai dish. The service was also quite poor. A group arrived after us, ordered after us, but got their food almost immediately, while we had to wait nearly an hour to get just a handful of plates.
Brilliant Food! Everything we order was perfect. Must try there papaya salad.
By far the best Thai I had pleasure of having outside of Thailand! the restaurant has 2 Thai chefs, so it is authentic experience. Ambiance is fantastic for both business lunches/dinners and more informal meetings, there is a dress code though. I particularly value the service, which is great and very discreet. My favourite spot in town for special occasions or if I fancy a real treat.
