TamamboKaren Blixen Coffee Garden, Karen Rd, Karen, Nairobi
Hadn't been for years and went for a leisurely Saturday lunch. How very American; you wait to be seated. No wonder though; tourists kept on coming in groups of 15 to 20 people and the menu prices reflect this clientele, they are ridiculously high. Service is good, but pushy. The food is on the bad side of mediocre and even though their salad comes in an attractive, edible bowl, it is just a mountain of lettuce with three thin slices of carrot, three slices of local cucumber and two strips of avocado, a disgrace at 600 bob. The setting is lovely and the complimentary bread was fresh with a good amount of butter, but all in all Tamambo is a tourist trap trap with so-so food.
If you're looking for a restaurant where you can have an intimate dinner with your partner or with friends and family, this restaurant should definitely be worth a try. The ambiance is perfect for this. The food is worth the drive and not to mention the service aways being top notch.
Not much choice for vegetarian guests. Apart from that a great family day out.
Food was delicious, presentation of the main course could do with improvement. Service a little bit slow but the ambience made up for it. Didn't visit the bathroom.
Service was slow and disorganised
