Saravana Bhavan2nd Floor, Victoria Plaza, Westlands, Nairobi
It was my first time here, I was skeptical after hearing mixed reviews. The ambiance was nice and the servers were friendly. We ordered some aloo dish and chilli paneer for starters. Both were dry and the aloo was extremely salty. For mains, we ordered several dosas and uttapam - all were lovely and tasty. I might not go back soon due to the horrible starters, but maybe for the dosas.
As Kenyans we do not have many vegetarian options when it comes to restaurants, nor we do find it easy to appreciate them. I like SB because it gives us a new insight into Indian food, without all the tikka :D Our waiter was polite and attentive, his recommendations excellent and the ambience, especially at night, beautiful.
Sitting needs improvement. Tables are small. Service is friendly but they need to work on the skills they need to pay more attention to what the client is saying than feeding the data on the tab. Food is fine but they need to work a good way of presenting the food. Needs better cuttlery .
Service was VERY VERY SLOW and too many blunders in the food and the final billing!
1) Only had one waiter serving everyone in the restaurant. 2) Food was taken too long to be served. Ordered veg Soup, was served flour and soup without any veggies. Ordered Methi naan, was served butter naan.
After us complaining, the manager decided not to charge us for the soup. BUT the final billing we were charged for it and an additional item was added even when we hadn't ordered it. We were overcharged by 800 bob! Which they decided to correct after pointing out their mistake.
Food was no doubt tasty but sorry, never going to go there again considering it was our FIRST TIME dining there.
Lovely family friendly ambiance, the waitress has an in depth knowledge of the menu and offers recommendations if the menu gets you confused. The food is served in generous portions and the presentation looks great. Will definitely visit again.
