Salt Bar & GrillThe Junction Mall, Ngong Rd, Nairobi
Hadn't been at salt since its inception weeks, back when it was www. Decided to try it out for yummy Tuesday. The place was empty with only about 6 patrons that night. For starters we got samosas and chicken fingers but they brought fish fingers instead. Since it was a slow night we decided not to send food back to the kitchen. For mains, we got lamb chops which were cooked to perfection. The chef got the medium rare just right. I on the other had a salmon burger with blue cheese and it was nothing to write home about. The ambiance however would definitely take me back very chill place for an after work unwind.
Recently went to Salt in the hunt for a great Steak and some decent wine. As per what seems to be the usual in Nairobi, they have an extensive wine list but can not deliver on what they claim to serve. Asked for a puilly fume, didn't have it in stock, settled for a Sancerre, requested a second bottle and they had run out! Their cheese platter was great, steaks were good, however, mine was overcooked and when I sent it back it came back again still overcooked plus more than half of my 250gms was inedible fat. Rest of teh group really enjoyed what they had though and we had some decent whiskey to finish off the meal. Worth a visit but check your bill, they tried to overcharge us by KES 1750
The staff were too familiar with us and didn't seem to take the very long wait we experienced seriously. The food took so long to come that I can't tell whether it was good or I was just hungry.
Absolutely amazing steak... really enjoyed the ambience as well. The wine was also exquisite.
This is one of my favourite places to dine. The food was great although the portions were a bit small, the service was excellent but the wine, the wine was diving. I discovered some of my favorite reds here. Kinda wish it was somewhere a little more secluded, but that's just me.
