Nargis Restaurant

No. 20 School Lane, Westlands, Nairobi

Restaurant Information

Nargis restaurant is much more than a restaurant, it is an institution. Many will recall with nostalgia the mirrored walls and quaintness of night dining in Nairobi’s River Road where it first began soon after independence. Started by a professional chef who learned his skills in the UK, today Nargis has branches in Industrial Area and Westlands and continues to offer the House Specialty - the best Chicken Tikka in Africa. This is credited to the ‘Secret Sauce’ of which the recipe has been passed from father to son unchanged and is used in the marinades. There are also several vegetarian and non-vegetarian options of the Mughals cuisine that one should be sure to try including the Mushkakis, Biriyanis, Paneer Tikka and Masala Chips. Nargis is easy to find and the food comes quick and hot and the decor is colourful, clean and simple.

This place is good value and good food. U will not go wrong on the selections they have and the meals are good. The ambience is nice with a good sitting area. The service of this place is not good at all. Had a bad experience with the service. We waited more than 1hour for our food to come when the restaurant was not even busy. We were about to leave after asking numerous times from the staff and the only response we kept getting was it's ready we are bringing. Finally we decided to leave and the owner stepped in and requested us to wait. I hope they fix their service otherwise they definitely will lose a lot of customers.

I like the food here. Its a place to go for a quick meal. They have a good variety too.

Again... Indian barbecue. Leaves me speechless everytime. Although it doesn't beat the oh so famous Hashmis, this place has good food, good ambience, good customer service and you get good value of your money. Definitely a go to place for nice family dinner or even just friends.

informal old world Nairobi vibe, Excellent barbeque food. Always bustling. Remember they are not open on Monday. I have my standard order of paneer Tikka and Pili Pili Chips. However the service is poor and staff is not the friendliest perfect place for a quick bite or a famil outting at night

The best spicy chicken in Nairobi. Ask for extra chooza sauce on the side.. You can buy bottles of it too :) :
