Masala Twist by Venom9th Floor Victoria Plaza, Westlands, Nairobi
Being my first time to dine and experience indian cuisine, my expectations were somewhat neutral. Masala Twist quickly changed that to great within a matter of minutes! Despite the wait staff taking their sweet time to attend to us, our overall experience was not ruined. Before anything else, ask for the Edison Invention cocktail :) and you will not be disappointed. I truly love their starters: Peri peri chicken tikka, chicken erachi pepper & nawabi seekh kebabs. For the main course, our expectations were totally exceeded by the butter chicken with naan & jeera rice as the accompaniments! My good friend and I had to take a breather before indulging in the desserts. Finally, for the sweet course, the masala chai icecream with the ginger biscuits will make all your troubles seem minute hehe Their Indian food truly has a twist!!!
First there was Edison's invention, a cocktail in a bulb! Then there was the starters. Highlight of the night. The mushrooms and braised lamb, amazing. I'm totally going back. Anyone planning to dine here, have these on top of your list. I enjoyed the naan too, with chicken curry. The chicken was a bit spicy but had a good flavor. Generally, this was a good experience.
I am yet to see such creativity when it comes to cocktails. These guys took me back to our old chemistry lab in high school-serving long islands in measuring cylinders, how awesome! They also don't compromise on their food. The classic Indian dishes were prepared just right. I recommend the Braised mutton ribs and the Mushrooms for the starters. I also enjoyed their garlic naan.
I really enjoyed the experience at the restaurant. The mushrooms were really really good! And the cocktails, fantastic presentation guys. The only thing i didn't like was the washrooms. Other than that, I will definitely go there again.
Two words: Edisons Invention! Probably the coolest cocktail ever. Came served in a lightbulb because Edison. Loved the food as well. Their mutton is one for the books. Tender, flavoured and easily addictive. Have to go back soon
