This is a simply hidden gem. Honestly didnt expect club night to be all that but boy was I wrong , the DJ was holding the house down. For the first time I saw 90% of the patrons on the dance floor even the left footed ones. The food was amazing, i would recommend the grilled lamb. The ambiance was serene especially with the manicured lawn and the building design to the decorations.

“A perfect eat-out”

Where to start? The Ambience and tranquility just from the entrance warms your taste buds, they offer the best gourmet meals in town...I had the Norwegian salmon for lunch plus the brandy roll for dessert and it was lovely..After sundowners with some friends, I couldn’t resist the urge to stay back for dinner and I took the Osso bucco with the Italian risotto, which was very sumptuous and definitely a must try for anyone visiting this state of art culinary restaurant...Best restaurant in Nairobi !!

For starters the place is amazingly beautiful and they have kept the space homely, the service was grand too we had several waiters pass by and frequently ask how things were and for top ups and the schnitzel was delish so was the steak that my partner had. Definitely going back.

The Lord Erroll

NRW2016: Enter the crest emblazoned restaurant and you expect to be blown away with the finest of the finest dining experiences...

I will begin with the positive, the guards! The guards were the most cordial, friendly people. They sold the place more than it's site did. Saying stuff like: "this is the best place to be"..."this is the best restaurant"... They got us really excited. And I think without them, we wouldn't have been able to handle the rest of the night. Coz after the gate, everything went downhill...fast!

I'll bunch up and say the service was really...really crap! It was so bad, so unprofessional and so distasteful that it left you wondering whether the entire staff was simply untrained (and should be forgiven for they do not know what they're doing) or...on this particular week - the Nairobi Restaurant Week - they were simply asked not to give a... Which begs the question: why then enter the exposition/exhibition? I thought the idea is to sell yourself. Showcase your best...but nooooooo not Lord Erroll. The Lord Erroll even has a whole new menu lined up for you...

Lord Errolls Chips! Open the site for Lord Erroll and they state "Lord Erroll serves the finest French cuisine." The only thing French during the #NRW2016 was "French" fries. Seriously...check the menu above. And not the kind of French fries you feel obliged to say with a roll of the tongue, but: Chips! Chips: the kind that conjures memories of downtown, dingy and dark fast food restaurant. That kind of chips. No kidding. This stuff was...well not what you'd expect of a fine dining restaurant: finely sliced, golden brown, soft and crunchy... If you think that's what you'll find, you're in for a shocker! They're stuff...well...

But the most disappointing bit is that all that abuse to the concept of fine dining above (and more that can't be put in words...or on this platform) is set in one of the most beautiful setting you could come across. The landscapes, the outdoor dining area, the water features and the art (there's no music...another miss if you like music...but the paintings and wall hangings are really beautiful). Which all feels like such a waste! Such a waste of such space! Such a waste of whoever Lord Erroll was (if he was...and if he was a great guy..) I kept on thinking, the guy must be turning in his grave right now.

So...The Lord Erroll...as far as the #NRW2016 goes...it is such a RIP OFF!!!! Unless you don't mind crappy service and fries in the name of fine dining.

But then again, noting the reviews given, perhaps ours was an experience in a vacuum...an isolated one of a kind. Maybe we visited the place when everyone was having a bad day. And the usual chef was away or something...or just Kenyans don't like to say it as it is.

The food and the ambience was good. The view of manicured lawn and sound from the man-made waterfall accompanied the dinner quite well.
