La Rioja TavernSpring Valley Business Park, Block A, Spring Valley, Nairobi
I finally decided to try this restaurant out last evening since they advertise daily offers on their social media pages. Though it's quite small, intimate really, it's welcoming and has a beautiful view. The staff members are friendly and try to be helpful. I was however very disappointed by the menu. To begin with, none of the drinks offers they continuously post about were actually in place (explanation provided was that though happy hour is on their Facebook page, they are currently restructuring and "reconsidering" maintaining the offers). There was no cocktails list though they claim to have daily offers on the same. The food menu was quite short and the pricing didn't seem worth it for tapas (I didn't end up trying any of their food). I was also very put off by the fact that they got our bill wrong despite there being only one other table of customers at the time. Overall, I found the experience underwhelming.
Was super stoked to try this restaurant when i saw another tapas bar has joined the scene. To say we were disappointed would be an understatement. The portion sizes are not worth the money. The menu is not too extensive. We asked the waitress if our 8 portions would be enough for a group of five adults and she assured us they would . However when the food came we were terribly disappointed with the portions. I get that it is a tapas menu and i am comparing it to picazzo and tapas (westage). Based on what we got, we would have needed an extra 8 of the same items to satisfy a group of 5. Furthermore, we just didn't get the flavors they were completely underwhelming. The food was bland!!!! Being a birthday dinner we made up for the beautiful ambience by having lots of shots. But i wouldn't consider it again for a dinner. Maybe an after work happy hour plan due to value for money as its not cheap.
