Caramel Restaurant & LoungeABC Place, Waiyaki Way, Westlands, Nairobi
Fantastic service, fantastic cocktails, fantastic food. Thank you Caramel for setting the bar for quality service and food. Your staff are well trained and as such customer retention wont be much of an issue, I had a steak that was overly salted and when the chef was advised he made me a fresh one. Not many restaurants here do that. my favorites are the passion Mojito, the started shrimp cocktail and the main where a prawn and steak are combined. The mash potatoes are awesome too. Hands down top restaurant in Nairobi.
Okay, the chef does a good job, food was good, full stop. How can you use the word "sophisticated" in any description? You have a wine list that bears no relationship to the menu and the scant resemblance of a wine that fits close to a match is "unavailable". Then a waiter who is too pretentious for the place suggests a wine that is so off the mark that it was laughable, where is his sophistication? My experience was beautiful, I loved the food, ambience and the customer care. Definitely want to go there again.
I dined at Caramel about two weeks ago. I booked my reservation with Terry. She was delightful. She even went ahead and asked if it was a special diner and indeed it was my girlfriend's birthday. She suggested a wonderful surprise, my girlfriends name written on a chocolate fondue. The waitresses brought it out while singing . It was a heck of a surprise, a major plus. As for the main course the food was soso.. nothing special for the ridiculously high price. The the chocolate fondue was delectable. The ambience was good, however ruined by the azonto type music which to my opinion an insult on fine dining. All in all a positive experience.
The food was excellent, service was superb and really great ambiance. Great dining experience.
