Valerie's Review ‹ Back to Tamarind Dhow
I was here last weekend for dinner with my boyfriend, and it was the most beautiful of experiences. I love seafood, I love going out to dinner. So going out for a seafood dinner on a dhow was one of the most incredible moments of my life. The food, as per Tamarind's usual standards, was excellent, a word I do not use lightly. I have loved Tamarind for so long, and years later they still do not disappoint. I had some amazing wine that my boyfriend so expertly picked out. The ambiance screamed romance. The staff were friendly, pleasant and just looked happy to be there, even though they do this day after day after day. At some point I observed one of the staff serve mashed potatoes onto a plate, and he was laughing and smiling with his fellow colleagues. I remarked to my boyfriend "this looks like the happiest place to work." One of the waiters perfectly summed up the experience. What happened was, just after we sailed, one of the crew members climbed to the very top of the mast (I hope that's the term) to switch on the lights of the boat. And he perched atop there for a couple of minutes, much to the surprise and delight of us dinner guests. So my boyfriend and I asked about this, and the waiter said "that's why the Tamarind dhow is a magical experience" I would like to do this again, at lunchtime this time, so I can compare the two experiences. But I wholeheartedly recommend this to EVERYONE!!
